Her process balances structure with softness and thoughtful design with quiet confidence. Over the years, her work has been featured in numerous international publications and shaped by collaborations with some of the most respected creatives in the industry.
Now based in Collingwood, Laz & Co. works with homeowners, second property owners, and businesses throughout the region. The studio offers a highly personalized approach to spaces of all sizes and scopes.
5 questions I get asked a lot
-
“ Grounded, layered, and always considered. I love creating rooms that feel intentional without feeling staged. I like contrast — old with new, textured with sleek, simple with unexpected. A space should feel natural and collected, like it unfolded over time.”
-
“Not at all. I’ve had the chance to work on boutique hotels, restaurants, and commercial spaces in South Africa alongside architects I deeply admire. Those experiences taught me how to think at scale and with function in mind but still bring in emotion, texture, and tone.”
-
“Ooh, a controversial one but yes, I do. Designers get access to trade pricing because we’re loyal, repeat customers and often buying at volume. I pass that benefit on to my clients. I charge a procurement fee for sourcing and managing items, but the discounts themselves go directly to the people I’m designing for.”
-
“Totally. I was born and raised in South Africa, and that heritage is woven into how I see colour, material, and balance. I bring a global perspective to local spaces. My design process was also shaped by years of working closely with architects which taught me how to think technically while never losing sight of feeling.”
-
“To me, design is about more than how a space looks. It’s about how it works, how it sounds, and how it feels. Having a son with sensory sensitivities has made me even more aware of how important those things are. I think about light, texture, movement, and calm and how to create homes that feel good to live in, not just good to photograph.”
